Here is a killer one, 1991 tape only release from Seattle thrash metal band "World Funeral". These guys could have been big, but never really got it together and were only known regionally.
Jim Tietsort now a youth minister, and Jim Payne is a Christian too, I`m not sure if they are making music anymore.

Here is the first full release from Effluvia, put out in 2004 on Filthcake Records. These guys released a 3 track "demo" tape in 1993 called "World Termination", and an EP "Ponder`s Corners" (named after an area in Lakewood Washington) in 2003. These guys are from Lakewood,Washington, a run down military town near Tacoma, Washington.

Here is a super cool funk/soul/rock cd from Seattle`s own Phat Sidy Smokehouse. This was released in 2000 on Dig Records. Phat Sidy Smokehouse possesses an original sound that is a mixture of George Clinton, Jimi Hendrix, with a bit of Peter Tosh. These guys are a tight band, with funky, catchy songs. It features guest spots from Seattle rapper "E Dawg". This cd is impossible to find now.

PAT BERRINGTON - Allen Street Rose (1996 Tombstone, AZ) COUNTRY WESTERN

Here is a VERY rare country western cd, from Pat Berrington, who through a number of strange incidents, believes that she is the reincarnation of a prostitute named Rose Callahan, who worked at The Bird Cage Theatre in 1881, and was a friend to the Earps & Doc Holliday. The cd tells the story of Rose Callahan and why her spirit returns to Tombstone and The Bird Cage. Almost anyone who has heard her music, HAS TO have this cd. It was sold exclusively at The Birdcage, and you can no longer find it anywhere.

DICK HARDWICK - Mentally Unplugged (1999 Hollywood, CA) STAND UP COMEDY

Here is an awesome stand up comedy cd from Dick Hardwick. Dick considers himself a "Corporate Comedian" and can moderate a corporate awards banquet or an outdoor concert at Atlanta Motor Speedway with 250,000 attendees. He`s a regular on Jeff Foxworthy's syndicated radio show when he`s not doing shows for STATE FARM, MERCK, AT&T, COKE, KFC, GILLETTE, BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE or The Republican National Committee. By the way, Dick doesn`t cuss, or use foul language, yet he`s still hilarious! Very few comedians have that talent, in my opinion!

God, I love this band! Released on FUBAR Records in 1995, these guys rock! I just listened to this for the first time today. How did I miss this one. I am a huge Seattle grunge/metal fan, and I hadn`t heard of these guys. They did alot of shows with the band "Bucket" back in the day. I don`t know too much about them, but they were from Tacoma, and they have that classic Seattle sound! If you like bands like Villan, Bucket, AIC, and other more edgy/hardcore grunge bands, you will dig this!

CRINGE - Brewzer (1999 Seattle, WA) RARE - PUNK ROCK

Released independently in 1999 this 6 song cd is Cringe`s first and only release. I barely know anything about Cringe, except that the singer, Kelly, is in a band called "Last American Badass", an awesome thrash metal band. He was in the bands "The Incarcerated", "Growing Horns" and "Knuckle Under", all Seattle hardcore groups. I am not sure what the other guys are doing.

Here is a great Jazz Vocal cd, this one is nice. VERY HARD TO FIND! This was released in 1989 by Foothills College. This was their jazz ensemble, I believe the program is still going on today. This cd features some awesome vocals!! There is even a track with Dave Koz on sax! Check out the mp3`s!

Thanks to the comment from "Kellexfl", we know that Greg Burgess the lead vocalist is now in the Norwood band "Wombat".
Maybe it`s just me, but the singer seems to sound like Kurt Cobain. That isn`t a bad thing, by the way!

Here`s one from the Bay Area prog rock band "Squelch". It was released in 1995 on Dinji Records, and is pretty killer. They describe themselves as "King Crimson meets Black Sabbath, twisted rhythms, lyrics and beats forge a potent progressive metal mix".

Lead singer Nick Petroff has played in a bunch of bands including Catharsis, Missing Link, and others.

Here is a great cd from "Peter Will", the Bakersville, California cowpunk/rockabilly legend. This material is taken from live performances at "Suds Tavern" and "Fort Sort". Peter Williams died in August 2005. He was a powerful talent, with a powerful taste for drugs and alcohol to match. That is probably what killed him. He was one of those guys like Kurt Cobain, he wanted fame, but didn`t want fame. He did have regional fame in the Bakersville, CA rock/cowpunk scene.

Abney Park was formed by Robert Brown in 1997. They released this, their first full-length album Abney Park in 1998, it has become highly sought after and impossible to find! I was lucky enough to come across this cd, and a demo cd made by Abney Park called "Welcome To The Park" at the same time. You can see "Welcome To The Park" on this blog. I posted it too. PACO - Trafton Traffic Jam (1990 Arlington, WA) Mike Rossana - JAZZ RARE

Here`s one for the jazz fans out there. This cd is from Mike Rossana aka Paco. Mike is best known for his jazz ensemble "Paco and The Hookers". He is a great jazz guitarist from Washington State. This was a lesser known, but badass cd from "Eye Witness" from Anchorage, Alaska. It was released in 1991 on Ice Productions, and featured 11 rockin` songs. I`m sure they didn`t press too many of these, I have never seen it anywhere else. I never found out much about the band, but they did have the cheesy hair, clothes, bandanas, and sound that all the collectors are looking for. I wish that punk bitch didn`t steal it from me. I hope he falls on it and the jewel case punctures his jugular.

HWP - Chances Are (1996 Salt Lake City, UT) ALT. ROCK - RARE

Other than the fact that HWP is from Utah, I don`t know shit about them! "Chances Are" was released in 1996, independently and features 10 great tracks. They kind of remind me of the band Live, or The Verve Pipe. That`s about all I know!

Here is a classic Christian / New Wave tape only release from the Crystal City Rockers. I am pretty sure it was released in 1983. As far as I know they only released 2 cassettes. The first one was self titled, then later came "Jump!". The Crystal City Rockers were a Seattle based band formed in 1981 playing power pop gospel music in cities, parks, churches, schools, youth groups and even a boxing ring.

SIMPLE RlTUAL - Backwash (1995 Olympia, WA) FUNK - RARE - ERIC BREDING

In the 90's, Simple Ritual was one of the South Puget Sound`s hottest bands, but in 1998 life took the members down different musical paths. Members were, Eric Breding (vocals), Joey Bean (guitar) Ryan Bogney (drums) and Tom Byrnes (bass).
This cd features an array of musical influences ranging from funk and rock to blues and jazz fusion.
These guys were in MANY other bands in the Olympia, Washington area throughout the years including Laguna!, Mojo Filta, Tubuku, The Pitz. They reformed a few years back, but I don`t think they ever recorded, they just played some local shows. Oly misses them!

SHALLOW WATER - Seven Years (1999 Bothell, WA) BLUESY CHRISTIAN ROCK - RARE!

Here is a cd from "Shallow Water" an EP called "Seven Years", it was released independently by the band in 1999. I don`t know much about the band, except that they were from the Seattle area, and were definitely a Christian band.

Though I do know that the drummer, Andy Rosenthal was in the bands Beluga, Electric Orchid, and Woody. Here`s a killer TAPE ONLY, 1991 self release from the Seattle punk band "iT". The band featured Lloyd Shattuck aka Loud Fartz, who has been in the bands Cannibal, Ten Minute Warning (with Gun`s & Roses member, Duff McKagen), F-Minus, an Olympia based band KAOS, and most notably he has been the drummer for the band "The Fartz" since the 1970`s.

Here is a great tape only release from Gerry Rose and his band. Gerry was a "blues man", he played in Texas, Florida, and elsewhere. His home was Tampa Bay, Florida. He spent his earlier years backing up Freddie King and John Lee Hooker. The road life took it`s toll on him and he passed away on March 21, 2000, rather unexpectedly.

THE MASTER BEAT - Shotgun In My Mouth - 1994 Deleware

SORRY, BUT THIS ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!

Released in 1994. The first song "Shotgun In My Mouth" was called an ode to Kurt Cobain. These guys were from Delaware, and from what I read somewhere they did not like what what was going on in Seattle at the time. Look at the front cover, it shows Seattle in the background, and a man (Cobain) with a flannel, boots, and a guitar, being smashed by a giant jukebox. Listen to the words, it`s pretty clear to me that this was a big shot at grunge.

I ended up selling this one on Ebay, and Mike Fisher from the band contacted me, if I remember right he said they only pressed like two or three hundred of these, and they were mostly given to radio stations.

Here is one of my personal favorites! This is a killer release from Seattle`s No X It, these guys shared the stage with some of the best Seattle bands back in the day! If you haven`t heard this one, you are missing out! I believe it was released in 1993.

Abdog Records out of Sacramento, California released this compilation in 2009. Abdog`s artists include the rappers Smooth Biz, In Som, Nia, and Fionnah.

I believe they are Christians, and their music is positive, and talks about the Lord.

ALEX DUNCAN - Say A Little Prayer - 1997 Seattle, WA - REGGAE SOCA DANCEHALL

Born on the Island of St. Kitts, Alex Duncan took that influence with him to Seattle, and formed Jumbalassy. He is now a solo artist, and has slowly gotten bigger and bigger. In 2010 he hit it big with the song "No More Lonely Nights". Alex has a bright future ahead of him, and is still making great reggae music!

MASTER CONTROL - Self Titled - 200? Seattle, WA - TECHNO - ELECTRONICA

A strange CD, which doesn`t have any acoustic instruments played on any song on the cd. Master Control is from Seattle, Washington. I cannot find any info on these guys or guy? The only thing I can say is that this project was heavily influenced by bands like Devo, or Gary Numan. It definitely has that 80`s sound. Other than that, I can`t say a whole lot about it.

Here`s one for all you metal-heads, it kind of borders on hard rock, but is kinda heavy. These guys were from Tumwater, Washington , which is basically Olympia. I don`t know much about this band, but they remind me of Disturbed (minus the cheesiness). It was released independently in 2003.
