WE THREE - Vocal Vertigo (1987 Seattle, WA) A Cappella

We Three was an a capella group from Seattle, Washington. They have been described as vocal trapeze artists, the three women infuse their music with rhythms, unusual harmonics and humor. They were ranked among the top 10 female artists by the Rocket Magazine, for their song, "Vocal Vertigo" which made it in the top 10 along with works by k.d. lang, Nanci Griffith and 10,000 Maniacs. They released this TAPE ONLY in 1987, it has 13 tracks total. The girls were Kim Scanlon, Judith Johnson, and Sarah Favret.

THE VOCAL MAJORITY - For God, Country, and You (1988 Dallas, TX) JIM CLANCY - RARE OUT OF PRINT

Here is a great cd from the Dallas, Texas group "The Vocal Majority". It was released in 1988 and is long out of print and VERY hard to find. The group is made up of more than 150 singers, and released their debut album "Standing Room Only" way back in 1976. Since that time they have released over 20 albums and according to Wikipedia.com, their last album "VM Bandstand" was released in 2011. The director of the chorus and "leader" of the group was Jim Clancy, he has held the title since VM`s inception. These guys have won tons of awards, have played all over the world, and have been doing it forever.

VON MARTIN - Deeper In Love (1994 Renton, WA) VOCALS -COVERS

Here`s a great cd from Von Martin, a great vocalist from Renton, Washington. Deeper In Love was released in 1994 on Passion Records. It features Von Martin covering classic songs, including "Unchained Melody" and "Georgia On My Mind". Of the 9 songs 8 of them are covers. The one song written by Von Martin is track #8, called "Caribbean Romance". It is a latin sounding song that I really like. I`m looking on the web for more Von Martin now.

ROSELLE NAVA - On Higher Ground (1997 Phillippenes) RARE - OUT OF PRINT

Heer is a super rare cd from the Phillippenes. Released in 1997, it features 12 awesome tracks. I don't know much about Roselle Nava, but I believe she is no longer with us. It sounds like she is missed by many fans. She went on to release a few more albums. She had a beautiful voice, and was very talented.

THE BUTTONFLIES - XYZ (1995 Davis, CA) RARE - TAPE ONLY - ACAPPELLA

Here is a super rare TAPE ONLY gem from the Davis, California acappella group "The Buttonflies".
I don't have a whole lot of information on these guys, but the group consisted of:
John Kessler, Anthony Costello, Nate Ballard, Dan Smith, and Eric Jordan.

I believe this was released in 1995, and was definitely a tape only release. I imagine they didn't make more than a few hundred, but probably less. I think they were pretty talented and am surprised there is not more info out there about them.

Joe Coughlin`s  third recording. He sings his favorites, songs he has done numerous times, but he also does some new ones like Billy Joel`s "New York State Of Mind", and Ale Wilder`s "South To A Warmer Place". Joe has done it all, from jazz vocals, like the songs on Third Accession, to fronting the Ontario metal band "Whiteheet" back in the late 70`s.

THE NATURE BOYS - Homey`s For Life - 1993 Seattle, WA - TAPE ONLY - SAMOAN - RAP - R&B - VOCALS

Here is a super rare gem from "The Nature Boys" a Samoan vocal group from Seattle, WA. I don`t have the cassette with me while I write this but I believe they released this TAPE ONLY album in 1993. The cd features a mix of smooth vocals, R&B style, and rap music. The boys have a youtube video, showing them singing "The Ring" at a family member`s 2008 wedding. Pretty cool that they stayed homeys for that long, and like the title of their tape, probably for life!

TILLIE - Give Me The Night - 1996 Seattle, WA - R&B - TILLIE HAIRSTON SAGER

Here is a great cd from Seattle`s own "Tillie" aka Janelle Hairston (now Janelle Hairston-Sager). It was self released in 1996 by Tillie. The album features production from Kenny "LaMar" McGowan, and beautiful vocals from Tillie, who covers Valerie Taylor`s "Why" as well as The Doobie Brothers "What A Fool Believes" (one 0f my all time favorite songs), while providing 12 tracks of her own written material. I believe the Hairston name caries some weight when it comes to Seattle music. I want to say that a member or members of the Hairston family, was/is a heavyweight in the Seattle rap/hip hop music scene.

D.E.C.I.S.I.O.N. stands for "Dedicated Exciting Christians In Service Inspiring Our Nations". They were a group of 8 young men from the Bahamas.
They released this cd in 1994, and I don`t believe they ever followed it up. The album holds 9 tracks, 7 classics, and 2 originals, all of which sound awesome. These boys could sing! They perform classics like, "No Turning Back", "Mine Eyes", "Feelings", and more!

Cyndi Lauper`s "Time After Time", what can I say? Now, I consider myself to be a pretty manly dude, but I gotta admit Time After Time is a fucking killer song.

Self released in 1995, this is an A Cappella classic, that most don`t know about. 5 brothers make up this group, they ranged from the ages of 17 to 25. They have played all over the country and have even been on national television, when they performed in Hawaii. They have won awards and played festivals all over the United States, especially the Pacific Northwest, opening for acts such as Lonestar, Manhattan Transfer, All 4 One, and more.

They have released 5 albums, this one seems to be the hardest to find! You can get it here though!

Here is a great Jazz Vocal cd, this one is nice. VERY HARD TO FIND! This was released in 1989 by Foothills College. This was their jazz ensemble, I believe the program is still going on today. This cd features some awesome vocals!! There is even a track with Dave Koz on sax! Check out the mp3`s!
